Mono prints competition results

On Tuesday 19th January we had the results of our first competition in 2021, the Mono Print 1, (although of course it was a PDI competition courtesy of Covid).

Our judge was John D Tillotson of Penrith Camera Club. John is a relatively new judge to our club although he's been a stalwart of Penrith club for many years. He was faced with the daunting task of assessing 71 mono images.

John's judging technique was to say what the image suggested in it's first immediate viewing. This may have been an emotion like "tranquillity", or a technique such as "silhouette". Next he would assess the image on it's merits such as composition, exposure etc. Finally he would suggest improvements to the image if it were his own image. There were a wide range of images on display, from landscapes to portraits, conceptual images involving intentional camera movement and double exposures, and street images involving low light as well as daytime. Again a large number of members figured in the commended and highly commended categories and congratulations are due to Joan Sheppard for her winning Osprey Image, to Anne Henry for her double exposure of dancers, and to Don Smith for his dandelion head.
