The PDI Leg (1st of 2 legs) of the 4-Way Competition 2024-25 (against Morpeth CC, Gateshead CC and Cramlington CC) was hosted by Morpeth on 19th November 2024. The judge was George Ledger. We won the leg by a comfortable margin: Cramlington 4th scoring 192, Gateshead 206, Morpeth 225 and Gosforth 1st with 243. The second and deciding leg (Prints) is at Morpeth on 18th February.
The final leg of the 4-Way Competition 2023-24 (Prints leg) was held at Cramlington CC on 29th February 2024. We stormed into first place in the leg (Cramlington 240, Morpeth 246, Gateshead 257, Gosforth 279) resulting in a decisive win for GCC overall.
The NCPF Club Championships (PDI, Prints) were held on 11th February at Clara Vale. The 2 top clubs in each competition are asked by the Federation to represent them in the National InterClub Championships held by the PAGB. It was a great day for Gosforth CC! The 20 images in the 2 competitions are each scored out of 15. In the prints we came 3rd club out of an entry of 16 clubs, missing a tie for second place by just a single mark (1st Keswick 252, 2nd Saltburn 248, 3rd Gosforth 247). However, in the PDI competition (with 23 clubs entered) it was a tie for first place between Keswick and Gosforth, both on 253 points with Winlaton third on 240. After a marathon tie-break procedure where lowest-scoring images are progressively subtracted, Gosforth succeeded (after the subtraction of 10 images!) in winning First Place and the Trophy, thanks to the fact that 2 of our entry images (both from Lesley Hughes) achieved the full 15 marks, against only one from Keswick. Thus Gosforth and Keswick will compete in the PAGB InterClub Championships in Warwick later in the year.
The NCPF North Tyne Area Prints Competition was held on 30th November at North Shields hosted by Tunemouth PS. The required entry was 4 colour prints and 4 monochrome prints from each club. We came second, with the scores being North Shields 218, Gosforth 213, Cramlington 212, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth tied on 203, and Ponteland 201. Congratulations to Lesley Hughes whose two entries 'The Lookout' and 'Cherished' both scored 29, as also did 'Freesia' from Margaret Daly. Images, with scores out of 30, are shown below.
